The NFL kicked off Sunday football today, but there’s another football program dominating the competition this season!
St. Edward Girls Flag Football is off to an incredible 8-1 start in its second season under Head Coach Matthew Lynch. The Green Wave recently defeated crosstown rival Larkin High School 36-0, followed it up four days later with a 45-6 win over Elgin High School, and added two more victories today with a 21-0 shutout over St. Francis and a 24-6 win over Trinity.

St. Edward was rocking tonight as we welcomed 100 7th and 8th graders from 13 different middle schools to our Junior Homecoming! Parents were invited to stay for an informational presentation and enjoy school tours. Thanks for joining us! Today, the St. Edward community came together in prayer and remembrance on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
We began with a Mass for Peace and Justice, where Fr. Grant blessed 2,983 American flags. This afternoon, students and staff gathered to watch a documentary presented by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and hear the stories of those whose lives were forever changed that day. Following the documentary, we placed the flags across our campus and Greg True Field, each one honoring a life lost on September 11 and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
The message throughout the day was simple: be of service and never forget. Behind every flag is a person who was loved. We remember those who were lost, the courage of those who ran toward danger to help others, and our responsibility to honor them through how we care for and serve one another.
